Every spring, the Honors College looks forward to the opportunity to celebrate and honor our hard-working students, faculty, staff, volunteers, and alumni. These awards help to recognize those who have gone above and beyond, here, in the Honors College and at Auburn University, in the realms of leadership, research, service, and teaching.
All nominations must include

A letter of nomination, with a detailed description/explanation of what qualifies this nominee for consideration (no more than 500 words).
You may submit for multiple awards through the nomination portal. Self-nominations are welcomed and encouraged. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Senior-Level Awards
Eligible student nominees must be classified as a senior (completed 90 hours) with a minimum GPA of 3.2 and set to graduate with Honors in 2024 – spring or summer, or graduated in fall 2023.
Edgar C. Gentle III Honors Award
Awarded to a graduating Honors College student in recognition of their outstanding scholarship, mental attitude, and leadership qualities over the course of their career in the Honors College. To be eligible for the award, the student must complete the entire Honors curriculum, which includes the Senior Capstone Experience.
Meritorious Service Award
Awarded to the Honors College student whose dedicated service to our local, regional, or national community best embodies the Honors College mission to “serve others with compassion.”
Distinguished Research Scholar Award
Awarded to the Honors College student whose distinctive research record best embodies the Honors College mission to “pursue truth with courage and conviction.”
Wayne and Louise Crews Award
Awarded to the Honors College student whose contributions to the Honors College embody the full spirit of the Honors College mission to serve others with compassion, to pursue truth with courage and conviction, to honor the diversity of human experience, and to participate in the creation of a more just world.
Inclusive Excellence Award:
Awarded to a Honors College student for making outstanding contributions towards a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment at Auburn University and best embodies the Honors College mission to “honor the diversity of the human experience and participate in a more just world.”
Underclassmen Awards
Emerging Leader Award(s)
Awarded to a first-, second-, or third-year Honors student who has made significant contributions towards the success and progression of the Honors College and/or Auburn University by demonstrating outstanding leadership skills and dedication.
Committed to the Cause Service Award(s)
Awarded to a first-, second-, or third-year Honors student whose dedicated service to our local Auburn community best embodies the Honors College mission to “serve others with compassion.”
Non-Student Awards
Professor of the Year Award
Awarded to the professor whose outstanding teaching has most inspired, enriched, and challenged Honors College students.
Honored Alumni Award
Awarded to a graduate of the Honors College whose contributions to the Honors College, to Auburn University, and/or to our broader world embody the full spirit of the Honors College mission to serve others with compassion, to pursue truth with courage and conviction, to honor the diversity of human experience, and to participate in the creation of a more just world.
Jane and Sherman Pitts Volunteer Leadership Award
Awarded to an outstanding volunteer (non-student) who graciously gives their time, talent, and resources back to the Honors College.
