An Overview of Honors

The Honors College provides an enhanced education and an intellectual community to a select cohort of the university’s highest-achieving undergraduates. Its flexible curriculum integrates seamlessly with Auburn’s degree programs, enhancing standard courses through dynamic, multidisciplinary and metacognitive approaches. Students earn a major in a discipline-based college while also pursuing one of four pathways to graduate with distinction in Honors.

Honors students enjoy membership in a smaller community of learning while having access to the immense resources of a major research university. Membership in the Honors College includes exclusive courses, opportunities for individualized curricular planning, a dedicated academic advising team, smaller class sizes, access to graduate-level courses, priority registration and a wide range of experiential learning options—from research and pre-professional internships to community-based projects and distinctive study-and-travel courses. Honors students also enjoy access to Honors-only study areas, lounges and special events.
