Honors Students -

As we begin a new academic year, I would like to take a moment to welcome both our incoming and current students back to the loveliest village on the plain and the Honors College.  As many of you know, over the summer I was honored to be selected as the Interim Director of the Honors College and continue the wonderful work initiated by my predecessor Dr. Tiffany Sippial.

In the years since joining the faculty at Auburn, I have watched the university become an R1 institution, weather the pandemic, and significantly improve many of its programs. In the case of the Honors College, it has become one of the university’s crown jewels, with a talented and burgeoning student body, a wonderful and skilled support staff, and faculty who have created many unique classes. As Interim Director, my goal is to ensure that the Honors College remains a crown jewel and continues to provide you with engaging programing.

We have an exciting year planned, with numerous opportunities for you to explore, engage, experience and elevate your college career. From the Week of Service to several study abroad courses to our Cup at Cater, there’s opportunity for everyone to get involved.

I look forward to meeting many of you this year and hearing your thoughts on the college.

A Successful Week of Service

Our 10th Week of Service event was a huge success! This past week 101 incoming Honors students spent the week providing service to places like O-Grows, the Kreher Nature Preserve, the Food Bank of East Alabama, and Caring for Citizens of Alabama. Not only did these student weather the ... weather, but also spent time learning more about poverty in our state through films, lectures, and workshops.

LEAD Mentee Sign Up Open

The Honors Peer Mentorship Program is a lifeline for incoming Honors College freshmen to help ease the transition into the Honors College and university life by grouping new students with experienced upperclassmen. New students have a contact from the first day they arrive on campus to help them navigate this new step in their lives. Mentors are paired with a small group of first year students with whom they interact throughout the summer and fall semester. Registration closes August 25, 2023.
