Announcing our Spring 2027 trips!
Turn the world into your classroom with the Honors College's World Classroom Program and our 2027 Study & Travel courses.
Whether you're interested in global leadership in Amsterdam, the worlds of film and theatre in Greece and Austria, Nordic approaches to leadership and well-being in Denmark and Sweden, or public policy and government in Washington, D.C., each program combines academic learning with immersive travel experiences.
These courses offer unique opportunities for students to expand their perspective, develop valuable professional skills and gain firsthand insight into different cultures and industries around the world.
If you are interested in participating in one of these trips, be sure to attend either one of our information sessions on September 15 or 16 in Cater Hall. More information can be found in the events section of this newsletter.

Celebrate our incoming Honors students at the annual Honors College Induction Ceremony. During the ceremony, students will hear from a variety of speakers, receive their Honors College pin and officially be inducted into the college. Registration is required to attend. Incoming students were sent a registration link via email. |

Course contracting deadline: September 4
Creating a course contract is a great way for Honors College students to receive Honors credit in their non-Honors classes by adding an extra learning component to the class outside of the work already expected from them.

Enjoy lunch and discuss the ethical questions AI is raising
AI is changing how we learn, work and make decisions, and we want to hear what you think.
On September 22, students and faculty will gather at The Edge for lunch and a conversation about the ethical questions AI is raising. Using cases from Auburn’s inaugural AI Ethics Iron Bowl, you’ll talk through real-world AI dilemmas, hear how faculty are thinking about them, and share your own perspective.
No AI expertise or debate experience is needed. This is a conversation, not a competition. We want to create a space where students and faculty can learn from each other and think through some of the complicated questions surrounding AI.
You’ll receive the cases ahead of time, and we ask that you read them before attending so you’re ready to join the conversation.

Undergraduate research opportunity
Dr. Melissa Singletary's laboratory in the AU College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an undergraduate student to join the research team beginning in Fall 2026.
The selected student will gain experience in laboratory practices and technical skills, with particular focus in mass spectrometry methods. This position is ideal for a student interested in developing practical research skills in a laboratory setting.
Successful candidates should be reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, teachable, and enthusiastic about research. Please send a CV and email of interest to Dr. Singletary (mas0028@auburn.edu) and cc Dr. Hagarty (slh0057@auburn.edu) and Michelle Aono (aonomic@auburn.edu).

Honors co-sponsorship programFaculty, departments, colleges and students may request the Honors College to co-sponsor an event or program. The sponsorship may help cover the costs of food and refreshments, speaker honoraria or venue expenses.
The deadline to request Honors College co-sponsorships of events is the 15th of each month. We will review the request and respond about availability of funds by the first of the following month. Please keep in mind this timeline when requesting funds. |
