Auburn Honors Induction Ceremony Welcomes Class of 2025
Neville Arena transformed from a site of athletic triumphs into a space of academic celebration, as the Auburn University Honors College hosted its annual Induction Ceremony on Sunday, September 14. The college welcomed its newest Honors students in a moment that marked the beginning of their Auburn journey, formally welcoming them into a community defined by intellectual curiosity, ethical leadership and service-driven impact.
Each fall, the Honors College gathers students, families, faculty and university leadership to recognize the achievements of incoming students and affirm the shared values that guide their journey at Auburn. The ceremony marks a pivotal moment of transition from potential to purpose. |

September 30, 2025
This month, my mind is very much on ceremonies, especially ceremonies of beginning. I am writing this column shortly after the Honors College’s annual induction ceremony for our new students, which took place on Sunday, September 14, in Neville Arena. I have also been working closely with the officers of Auburn University’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa (Gamma
of Alabama) as they prepare to send out invitations to the undergraduate students who have been elected by the chapter’s membership for initiation into the chapter as members-in-course. I thoroughly enjoyed the first event, and I very much look forward to the second one, as much as I also happily anticipate the college’s medal ceremonies every winter and spring for our graduating seniors.
These ceremonies are joyful occasions, and they can feel deeply meaningful -- certainly the induction ceremony felt that way for me, especially as my position on the platform committee gave me the privilege of looking out over the many rows of our students formally voicing their commitment to the values of the Honors College, while their deans and families sat behind them as proud witnesses. |

This issue's book is ...
Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World by Max Lucado
"This book, along with many others that Max Lucado has written over the years, have helped me find purpose and steadiness in the storms of this life. I go back to this one to help me refocus on what matters, and let go of the anxiety of this life. This world throws more problems at us each day, and everyone needs something to hold onto. The way Lucado writes is straightforward and easy to put into practice.”
This book was entered into the Collective Library by Dr. Whitney Comer, Honors Associate Director of Student Affairs. |
