Dear Students, Alumni, and Friends of the Honors College:

Welcome Back! On behalf of the entire Honors College team, I want to welcome everyone back to the Plains for what promises to be another wonderful year. Our team has been hard at work planning a full slate of exciting, high-impact, in-person experiences that includes everything from new class offerings to new study and travel opportunities. Returning to a fully in-person educational experience will undoubtedly bring an elevated energy to every aspect of what we do. Our team is ready!

I have already glimpsed that elevated energy during our ninth annual Week of Service program. This year 78 incoming Honors students, and many members of our Honors College staff, put their talents to work to help alleviate poverty at service sites scattered from Opelika to Tuskegee. I witnessed one group reflooring a bathroom for a local resident with mobility issues, another group was cleaning a historic church, and yet another was packing boxes of food for distribution to families in need. We are so proud of the legacy of service we are building in the Honors College and look forward to marking the 10th anniversary of this remarkable and impactful program next year.

We hope that the spirit of this week will animate us throughout the year as we take part in the variety of learning-intensive, hands-on, collaborative, and service-oriented experiences offered by our faculty and staff. From Cater Talks to career fairs to study and travel programs in London, Paris, Greece, and Cuba, we will be offering a fresh slate of innovative activities meant to challenge and enrich our community. We invite our students to lean fully into the Auburn University Honors College experience. Reading our Eagle Scholar newsletter and following us on social media is the perfect way to stay connected and informed. With the talent flowing from our students, faculty, and staff, we are truly a hub of excellence on the Auburn University campus, and I cannot wait to see what we will accomplish together this year.

I wish you a wonderful and healthy fall semester. If I can ever be of service, please never hesitate to contact me via email (tat0004@auburn.edu) or by phone (334-844-5860).

It can be a much more valuable process than that! Join our Assistant Director of Academic Affairs, Suzanne Hunter, on August 22 from 3-4pm in RBD Library 4041 to learn about the ins and outs of the Honors contracting process while enjoying some tasty cookies.
